General Notes
This walk is inspired by the Chobham Clump walk which Chris Steer used to lead as a Surrey Group social event circa 30 years ago and uses some of its paths. A gentle accommodating pace with no stiles but some muddy patches. It may also appeal to those who have not walked with Surrey for a while! 6 miles before lunch, mostly on Chobham Common (the largest National Nature Reserve in south east England). After lunch, 3 miles around Fairoaks Airport, part of Horsell Common and passing through McLaren Park (with its stunning Norman Foster designed HQ for McLaren Mercedes racing team). Lunch, about 12.15, is at The Hangar Cafe. You are welcome to do the whole walk, the morning walk or the afternoon walk. You can even just come for a catch up over lunch (it is a simple caff!
