We set off from Redmire Railway Station taking a footpath firstly across the Railway track  and then across another field down into the centre of Redmire .

After a short distance of Road Walking we joined Thoresby Lane to then continue along an enclosed well used footpath to head south past Hollins House enter St Joseph's Wood and Freeholders Wood to reach the Road.We used this path as the alternative path down to Slapestone Wath (Stepping Stones) had about 4inches of water flowing down it.A bit early in the day to get our feet wet .

We then took a Riverside footpath and then crossed Yore Bridge which took us up to reach another well signposted footpath to reach the smaller of the two churches in the Heart of Aysgarth Village .

Going through the village my attention was drawn to Aysgarth Rock Garden by  a couple of regular members of our group .Well worth a visit. Although small and compact the construction of a variety of Limestone 

Rocks and the numerous types  of plants is not to be missed .

We decided that this Haven was an ideal place for our first break .

After our Break we continued on a short section of road and track to reach Haw Lane ,Stake Road and then reach Stake Allotments where we had lunch , before heading North to reach Carpley Green Farmhouse .

From where we took a well used bridleway to skirt Addlebrough Hill  and then reach the village of Thornton Rust.

Passing through this quaint village we took Richmond Gate (Track) to reach the A 684 and reach Ballowfield Footbridge over the River Ure .

We then took a road section to the village of Carperby before climbing up to the bridleway across the moor and then the Public Access Route to reach Castle Bolton.

From Castle Bolton we had a short road section where we passed  a  wood carving of a Dragon was on show.We then deviated through a few fields back to our cars at Redmire Station.

Once again another Top Group who like myself are only interested in getting out and having a good day .As always Banter and Verbal Abuse was of a very high standard  which is now as important as the Map/Waterproofs/Sandwiches .I deserved the Lion,s Share of  the Stick as I turned an 18 miler into a 21 miler .

 

My recently purchased Map Measurer may be binned .Back to my tried and tested Piece of String 😁
