January 2022 Update

Please note, some individual's contact details have been removed, but please visit the Upcoming Events page.

Dear all

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and have a great New Year. 2021 has reached the end and I hope we can look forward to a year of plenty of social walks and challenge events without too many restrictions in 2022. Many thanks to all our leaders who have led walks during the year and continue to do so into the new year. As always, we welcome volunteers (experienced and newbies) to lead social walks or help at challenge events. Please get in touch if you are interested in being involved in any way.

Sunday 3rd July 2022 - 50 Years Celebration Event

As you are probably aware, 2022 is the 50th anniversary of the LDWA. To mark this big occasion, we will be holding a special social group walk to be followed by a 3.5hr afternoon River Boat trip from Ipswich Quay. This trip is only for Norfolk & Suffolk past and present primary members. Included will be close-up views of Ipswich Docks, Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe Port, before returning back under the formidable Orwell bridge and through the lock gates into Ipswich Mariner Basin. There will also be a commentary from the crew about the river and places we will see. The group has chartered The Orwell Lady for this special occasion and will be heavily subsidising this trip. The Orwell lady accommodates 65 people comfortably undercover, but will take more if needed. There are toilet facilities and a bar serving hot & cold drinks. The morning walk will start at 9 am, of approximately 8miles and close to Ipswich. The boat trip will be departing Orwell Quay 1400hrs and returning 1730hrs. This trip will need to be prebooked. This is very much a flexible event, You can join us all day or just for the boat trip, whatever you decide we will be pleased to see you. More information will be posted as we progress with finalising this event. If you are interested and would like any further information or to reserve a place contact Simon Colchester.
