Walk Details:
This is a walk encompassing forest, heathland and breckland very much away from civilisation! There is no road walking.
We start from a quiet c.p close to Brandon Country Park. We head along Shakers Road (a forest track) that soon opens into heathland, eventually reaching the Elveden War Memorial on the A11. The underpass allows us to complete a circuit around Berners Heath partly following Icknield Way and St Edmund Way before returning to the Monument. Unfortunately due to some of the surrounding land being privately owned there is a small amount of duplication of the walk prior to returning to the c.p.
Paths are good throughout including both grassy and stony forest paths.
There are no facilities (discounting thousands of trees!), and no shops on route.
Dogs with appointed owners welcome. We may even see some F15’s!
