Open to Offas    14th August 2021

Update - 16th August 2021 - 50 walkers and runners completed the longer course and 34 completed the shorter route last Saturday.

Open to Offas is a long-established challenge walk, now held in August with options of 23 or 15.5 miles in 10.0 hours from Cilcain Village Hall (GR SJ176652) (just inside N Wales, 15 minutes beyond Chester by-pass). We welcome walkers and runners, LDWA members and non-members. Entry via SI entries costs £6.20 (£8.20 non-members).

Both routes climb the Clwydian Hills to follow the Offa's Dyke Path with the 23 mile route taking in Moel Famau and Foel Fenlli  with a return via wooded country. The views are outstanding, the terrain underfoot is excellent throughout. The start is at 08:30 (23-mile routes) or 09:30 (15.5-mile route).  Explorer Sheet 265 covers the whole event apart from about a mile at the southern end of the 23-mile route.  Landranger Sheet 116 also covers everything apart from half a mile just off the eastern edge for all routes.
