London LDWA

Hello again!

Well with a decent-sounding forecast, perhaps we will be enjoying a bit of an Indian Summer after all this September?   It's probably a bit too soon to start counting our chickens weather-wise, but at any rate it should be sufficient encouragement to get the boots on and soak up a few late-summer rays on one of London LDWA's two excellent walks this week.

First of all, on Wednesday, Julie will be leading a linear Wander in the Woodford Green area.   This promises to be a bit of a trip down memory lane for her, as it visits many of her favourite childhood haunts.   I'm sure she will be able to provide lots of local colour to the walk, so please do hop onto the Central line and meet Julie at Woodford station at 18.00 this Wednesday evening.   It almost goes without saying these days, but the trip will rather remarkably incldue a visit to a Wetherspoons along the way.

And as if the Woodford Wander wasn't enough, we've also got the first part of a trilogy of walks coming up next Saturday.

The London Loop logo

The London Loop - the walkers' equivalent of the M25, minus the traffic jams!

Yes, Peter will be setting out from Erith and heading clockwise, south from the Thames to Hayes on this slightly longer-than-usual hike round a part of the "Walkers' M25" otherwise known as the London Outer Orbital Path (or LOOP).   To join this walk, make your way to Erith station for 09.30 on Saturday morning, noting that several of the walk details have changed compared to to the original "Strider" entry.   The updated details are at the bottom of this email, and on the website.

And if you'd like to collect the box-set, parts 2 and 3 of this loopy walk appear in the Spring 2017 walks programme, so check them out and mark the dates in your diary!

So - with this vigorous programme of activity in mind, have a great week and to those of you joining Lonica on the trip to Derbyshire next weekend, I hope the weather stays fair as you head into the hills and dales!

All the best for now

Adam
