London LDWA

Hello everyone!

Well, what a year it's been!   We've been on 53 weekend walks, 31 midweek walks, two weekends away, and organised a challenge hike.   During 2015, a total of 1164 people came on our social walks.

And, rather magnificently, Keith capped off the year last Saturday with one our best-ever attended walks, when 38 joined him as he followed in the footsteps of Nathaniel Bryceson (see last week's Update to find out about Mr Bryceson).   A fabulous achievement, Keith!   What aftershave do you use?

Bola took some fantastic photos from the day out which you can take a look at by clicking this link

One in particular caught my eye....

Ho Ho Ho!

It's amazing who you come across when you're out walking..
(and for a worthwhile cause, too)

And of course last Thursday we enjoyed our annual Christmas Dinner at the rather splendid Knight's Templar pub, ably organised by Catherine.   There's a selection of photos from the evening, on our website.   You can check them out by clicking this link.

And we did make some progress in identifying our "past members" photo, from 1995.   Janet was able to identify nine, and subsequently Bill and Martin named a couple more.  If you'd like to have a final guess at identifying the two still-anonymous members, here, for the last tme, is the photo:

There is no walk next weekend, but you'll only have a short wait till Susanne's new-years day outing, a week on Friday.   So if you are already arranging your 2016 hangover programme, make a note of Susanne's walk,   Just stumble your way, paracetamols in hand, to Barnes station for 11:05 on Friday 1st.

And in an effort to get 2016 off to a flying start, just 2 days later, on Sunday 3 January, Laurence will be setting off down the Thames Path.   More details in next week's Update, but if you can't wait to find out more, click this link.

So that's it for now.   I hope you have a great Christmas and as you digest your turkey and sprouts, why not use the down-time to have a good look round our website, especialy our updated "news" section (click here) if you'd like to reminisce about some of the highlights of our year.

The details of Susanne's walk are reproduced below
