Dear members,

Support for the Elephant, Bear and Bull (EBB) 100

The EBB 100 will take place  over the Bank Holiday weekend 27th – 29th May 2023, with the marshals’ walk on 29th April – 1st May 2023. This is the LDWA’s 50th 100. The LDWA 100 mile walk is the annual gathering of the LDWA family and a great event when hundreds of walkers and helpers come together to deliver and enjoy this amazing weekend.

As at June 2022 there is an element of fluidity in the organisers’ arrangements, and we feel it would be helpful if members of the Dorset group would consider what kind of help they might be willing to consider providing. The EBB 100 is not too far distant from Dorset, there is a very interesting heritage of the Midlands countryside and historic towns.

The Dorset group have always provided good support for the 100 in many ways. On the Trans Pennine 100 Dorset provided a varied range of help, including:

  • Manning CPs on the marshals’ walk and returning to help at key CPs [with representatives of a number of groups] on the main event.
  • Help in HQ jobs, including marshalling, transport and sweeping.
  • General support provided on other groups’ CPs, e.g. assisting at Wiltshire LDWA’s CP.

Depending on interest Dorset may either run a checkpoint or assist another group.

One different proposal is for the hiring of a large house or other accommodation for the week leading into the Marshall’s week, assisting on this event and also have a group holiday exploring the area.

Please will you respond with any thoughts as soon as possible, ideally before June 30th..

Please do not reply directly to this email, as it is from an unmonitored email address used for outgoing messages only.

Thank you.

Tracey
