Event Details Updated
"Beer and Pub Walks" are planned to be accessible by those travelling by public transport, and-or walking to the event. This is something we strongly encourage. Where this is not possible we highly recommend organising car share and having an "appointed person" who will be the driver and is prepared to avoid drinking alcohol prior to any return journey..

Southern England / Cornwall and Devon

Cornwall & Devon

A linear walk in the Exe valley calling at the villages of Silverton and at Bickleigh, where as well as refreshment facilities, there are bus stops with regular buses to Exeter and Tiverton giving options for shorter walks. The 18 mile walk finishes at Tiverton bus station. The walk mostly on footpaths, has sections on quiet country lanes and shared use cycleways.. Much of the walk is along the river Exe and these sections can be muddy after heavy rain

General Notes
A linear walk designed with the newly formed LDWA " Pubs and Beer Group" in mind - open to all LDWA members. The walk starts from outside the Imperial a pub which is in the CAMRA "Good Beer Guide" and is open from 08.00 for breakfast. The start is close to both St David's and Exeter Central stations. From Tiverton there are regular buses to Exeter or to Tiverton Parkway railway station. There will be opportunities for those who wish to enjoy the 2 fine pubs - or a cafe, along the route. Food can be purchased at these venues or bring a packed lunch. Dogs are welcome if on a short lead throughout the walk. We would like to welcome members from other parts of the country, and as such I am happy to put on a social meet up in a pub in Exeter on the Friday evening, should there be interest. Please could anyone intending to take part in the event contact the organiser beforehand for further information
