Bank Foot Circular

Bank Foot Circular

Date:      Saturday 2nd November  2019

Attendance:  6

Weather:  Mostly dry and  sunny

A negative weather forecast and the Rugby world cup factor might have accounted for a modest turnout of five old stalwarts and a welcome visitor from Northumbria. The route took us straight up the hill onto Battersby then Ingleby Moor where we were blessed with some wonderful views by virtue of one of the best things about the walk which was the dry, clear, sunny weather that contradicted the forecast. After a sheltered mid morning becside stop  we headed for Westerdale  then down to Hob Hole and across to Baysdale. After climbing out of Baysdale and only two miles from the finish light rain began fall and waterproofs were donned only for  this to prove  a false alarm. The finish along a forest rack was our first encounter with a wet,  muddy section.

The walk was completed by 3pm which represented a good pace bearing in mind two leisurely stops and 2,600 ft of climbing.
