Around The Moors

Around the Moors’     Saturday,  17th August, 2019

Attendance: 17     Weather conditions:   cloudy start with a fine afternoon

A large group of 17 walkers set off with representatives from Cleveland, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire and Northumbria; with clouds threatening rain but as the day progressed, good weather prevailed. A climb up Carr Ridge took us onto Urra Moor towards Bloworth Crossing, turning onto the Cleveland Way and onwards to Ingleby Moor.  A diversion took place and with the help of technology (GPS) we sought out the path across rough terrain.  The less adventourous had to take it in their stride.  Not being deterred, we soldiered on and had lunch (but where was Bob?).  Crossing Hograh Moor we picked up John Breckon road, heading on to New House Farm and then High House.  The final climb of the day was up Howdale Hill and then following the old mining railway back to Bloworth Crossing and Clay Bank.

Well done to all, a tough day (22 miles plus 3,000 feet of ascent). It was gratifying to see the achievements of certain members of the group.
