‘Hambleton’     Saturday, 2nd June 2018 - Joint Walk North Yorkshire Group & Cleveland

With foreboding skies, 12 hardy souls departed from Square Corner towards Black Hambleton. The core of the walk was along the Cleveland Way which we then left at Kepwick Moor heading to the village of Kepwick.  From there, Atley Bank took us to Gallow Hill turning along Windygill Ridge and back down along the road to Kirby Knowles, crossing fields and woodlands to Boltby.  After walking through the village we climbed up to High Barn and then along the Cleveland Way turning off through South Woods to Southwoods Lodge.  Did the climb up towards Sutton Bank hamper our spirits or was that the impending rain?   Reaching the top, we advanced back to the start point via the Cleveland Way.  Our luck held with only slight rain around High Barn.

My thanks to those who joined us from the Leeds/Harrogate area and to members from both Cleveland and North Yorkshire groups.
