Wye Forest 50 2018

WYE FOREST 50 2018

Statistics: 200 starters, 166 finishers, 28 retirees, 6 disqualified at kit check, 24 who pulled out in the last few weeks and let me know, 22 no shows.

Weather: brilliant sunshine before the start, a bit over cast at start, back to good sunshine (some of us at HQ even managed to sit outside for 5 minutes), heavy rain 30 minutes after last walkers came in. I take full credit for such fantastic walking weather.

Walkers feedback:
Did it and loved it, great organisation, super food! Thanks...
Thank you to everyone whose hard work and dedication gave us a great weekend on the Wye Forest event. It was a great route, with fantastic check points and always a warm welcome. Thank you for sorting the weather as it was not looking too good earlier in the week and we had a very warm day once the mist had lifted. The hills were...well, 'challenging' and slightly 'Tourettes-inducing' at times but all part of it and good training for the 100 which, this year, has less ascent over almost twice the distance of the WF so shouldn't seem too bad at all after that.  I contacted Deanwood to thank them for making us so welcome and looking after us and I hope that you as the organisers thought the venue suitable for future events.
Thank you to you and the crew for all the hard work before, during and after - it doesn't finish when we all go home. We were kept well-fed and watered, AND the sun shone.
