The plan is to walk from Winchcombe to Winchcombe via Chipping Campden. Morton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Naunton, and Brockhampton.
It will be at a leisurely pace, between 2 to 2.5 miles an hour. The point is to enjoy it. You can walk as little or as much as you want. If joining part way round please understand that timings are approximate.
It is essentially a linear walk (unless you walk the whole route). There are a number of places where there will be a lift back to your start point, check the route map, for the sections. If you join at a different point it would be sensible to team up with someone; park a car at your chosen end point and drive to your start point. That way you have a lift back to your abandoned car.
You will need to carry water and food, but there will be opportunities to buy provisions in shops on route. There will be some provisions in cars at set points.
It is near to the longest day so daylight hours will be at a maximum.
Car Park information:
Winchcombe at SP024284, £1 for 24 hours, toilets 20p.
Stanton at SP067344: Stanton Village Club (free). From Winchcombe on B4632, turn right at first sign for Stanton (approx 1.3m from roundabout at New Town). Follow road through Stanton following signs for Broadway
Chipping Campden at SP148392 (free). Back Ends off Hoo Lane
Moreton in Marsh at SP206325 (Saturday reasonable charges until 15.00, free from 15.00 and overnight and Sunday). Old Market Way carpark off Station Road. If coming from south on A429 at second roundabout on High Street turn right on to A44 and second left onto Station Road.
Stow on the Wold at SP192262 (free). From A429 going north continue past traffic lights and take next right for Tesco. At roundabout 3rd exit, at next roundabout 3rd exit. Do not park in Tesco carpark. The carpark off the A436 is expensive.
Naunton limited parking by church SP113234
Quarry car park (NW of Brockhampton) SP010236 just over 3 miles from end of walk. From Severn Springs follow the A436 to A40, turn left. At traffic lights turn right, then first left and second right. Follow to end to car park
