Brewery Walk - Sat 18 August 2018

Leader: John Davies

12 miles, 10 walkers

Lots of new footwear on show today for our walk in the hills and visit to the Chiltern Brewery.

A loop around Wendover, then a climb up Coombe Hill for a mid-morning break, sheltering from the wind, with hazy views, and looking across to Chequers - which we then circled round, looking back to the Monument on Coombe Hill. Lunch stop at Ellesborough Church - no Prime Minister today (we met Tony Blair coming out of church here one Sunday).

A glass of beer welcomed us to the Brewery;  there was a tour of the "brewing room", then the beer tasting - with bread, cheese, biscuits and chutney - all beer infused, plenty to go round and all absolutely delicious.
We finished with barley wine matched with fruit cake - and we all now know why it must be called "wine".

A shortish walk back to Wendover, finishing along the canal, completed the day.

It was great, John, and we all enjoyed ourselves - thank you for arranging everything.
