BBN Committee Meeting 30th July 2020 - Update

We held a Committee meeting using Zoom last week and there are a few things to update you on.

Social Walks – we’re still restricted to 6 people, including the leader, for our social walks but we hope get a few ‘Pop Up’ Social walks available soon. These will only be open to Primary members and advertised via the LDWA email system. Leaders of these walks will have recced the route for 2m social distancing suitability, which will have to be maintained throughout, and walkers will have to sign up for a place and adhere to the procedures that we’ll let you know about. If you would like to consider leading a ‘Pop Up’ walk please let us know.

Roy Carter’s Hathersage weekend is now fully booked. Roy has been, and will continue to be, in touch with those who are signed up. Please don’t turn up on the day hoping to join a walk as ‘Covid safe’ arrangements will have been made only to accommodate the current party.

Challenge walks – the Shillington Shuffle Organising Committee have, regrettably, decided that it’s not going to be possible to run the event planned for 15 November this year. There are still too many uncertainties, such as the number allowed together indoors and walking and checkpoint venue availability. The event has been postponed until next year. We’ll confirm the new date as soon as possible but it’s hoped it will be 21 November 2021.

Planning is still going ahead for the Chiltern Kanter on 7 March next year, finger crossed we’ll be able to hold this event.

Thanks to everyone who has put in considerable time and effort to planning these events only to have everything put on hold.

AGM – we are still hopeful about holding some sort of ‘live’ AGM meeting on 29 November but the format of the day may have to change. We need some new Committee members as several roles will become vacant at the AGM. We have a volunteer to take over from Mary as Walk Secretary – thank you Sara; but we need a new Group Secretary and someone to take over Dave Findel-Hawkins’s role as Group Membership Secretary, which isn’t a particularly onerous job. We also have space to accommodate a couple of Committee Members. Please think how you can help run this fantastic group.

The Committee is a small, friendly and helpful team who work well together. If you would like to know more or offer your services please get in touch with me, bbn.cchair@ldwa.org.uk, or any of the current Committee.
